about

Little more than a year after forming, Commit Suicide offer up their debut album, 'Human Larvae [Earthly Cleansing]', for chin-scratching analysis and rabid consumption. No bones about it, this is the most lethal deathgrind record to arrive all sweat-drenched in many, *many* moons - surprising, in
one respect, and then not. For the former, it's palpitating to find a band so young yet with such an innate understanding - chaos vs. collision - of the idiom's halcyon years ('91-'93) here in the States; and for the latter, it's equally palpitating to witness the very real, very *human* urgency on display here that most likely arose from catching the old guard sleeping for so long. Dizzyingly dissonant riffery, serpentine flow, merciless battery from one track to the next, and some thoroughly genius/gonzo drum gymnastics (sans triggers!) courtesy of one Lee Fisher, it all adds up to a shockingly
*memorable* listen, something you're unlikely to find in just about every metallic genre these days. Not all that groundbreaking categorically, but such in the way it's delivered.time after time, as the album's 28 minutes plow by all too quickly, compelling further presses of the 'play' button. -- Terrorizer
